Motorists traveling in the Lakeshore Drive area in North Bay should expect delays to start their work week, due to construction work.

The City of North Bay said drivers will experience delays at the Lakeshore Drive overpass on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

"Minimal impact to traffic is expected on Monday, however, it is anticipated that the bridge will be reduced to one lane on Wednesday and Friday during the deck pours due to operational constraints," reads a media release from the city.

The city said the aging bridge needs upgrades due to safety concerns.

"It was labelled as needing a lot of attention and we did a study and the study indicated that rather than doing just spot repairs on the bridge, it was much better to replace the entire structure for the life cycle of the bridge," said Reid Porter, City of North Bay infrastructure engineer, during an interview with CTV last week.

The $7 million dollar project is expected to be finished by the end of September.
