Months of anticipation are over in timmins as the city announced a glittering lineup of music acts for next summer's Stars and Thunder Festival in Timmins.

Mayor Steve Black was all smiles Wednesday as he unveiled the names for the second installment of this event.

"Bryan Adams will rock us into the late hours of Canada Day and put on a show that is sure to do our country and our city proud."

A week of music and celebration will be headlined by Adams, but the big names dont stop there with Blue Rodeo, the Beach Boys, Burton Cummings Gord Bamford, Our Lady Peace, the Arkells and others.

Black says making last year's festival a success was a challenge, and this year's version has it's own set of challenges.

"We wanted to have an iconic line up that could rival last years, and probably step it up a notch, we're very happy with how it's worked out and you know, any time you get Bryan Adams on Canada Day, it means you're in a good position to have a great celebration." said Black

Organizers say along with the big-name talent,  local musicians will also find a place on stage over the 8 days.

"It definitely has a Canadian flavour, I don't know if that was intentional, but it was the fact that we wanted top artists and it happened to be that they're all Canadian this year, so I think it's going to be a great week." said Timmins councillor Noella Rinaldo.
