Another day, another set of special weather statements for parts of Northern Ontario.

Special weather statements have been issued for Greater Sudbury, Manitoulin - Blind River - Killarney, North Bay - West Nipissing and Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East.

Environment Canada said 25 to 50 millimetres of rain is possible Wednesday evening through Thursday night.

A low pressure system developing over Minnesota will track slowly eastwards. Showers, with embedded thunderstorms, will start late Wednesday evening east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, and then spread into eastern Ontario by Thursday morning.

With rainfall expected to continue into the weekend, the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority warns localized flooding is possible in areas with poor drainage.

Currently, local rivers, creeks and streams are flowing at normal levels, but continued rainfall and thunderstorms will cause levels and flows to rise across the watershed.

For Timmins - Cochrane, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.

Severe thunderstorms are possible into early Wednesday evening. Environment Canada said the main threats are large hail and damaging winds.
