Heavy rain continues to loom over parts of Northern Ontario, while some locations in the north have been hit with snow.

People in Timmins woke up to a winter wonderland in the fall. The city received a little bit of the white stuff on Sunday.

As for the rain, Environment Canada has issued another special weather statement for the following communities across the north.

  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
  • Kirkland Lake - New Liskeard - Temagami
  • Manitoulin - Blind River - Killarney
  • North Bay - West Nipissing
  • Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East
  • Timmins - Cochrane

"Rain will continue Sunday with additional amounts of 10 to 20 mm possible," reads a weather alert.

"Most areas have already received 15 to 25 mm or so as of early Sunday morning. The rain will taper off by Sunday evening."

This comes after Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Friday, warning that a ‘soaker’ could bring between 25 to 50 millimeters of rain on Saturday evening into Sunday.
