The boat of missing man has been found in the Parry Sound area, but the search for the 53-year-old continues.

The Ontario Provincial Police said Owen Sands was reported missing by family members. The Toronto man was last seen travelling in his pontoon boat near Shawanaga Inlet on the waters of Georgian Bay on Thursday at around noon.

Family members found the boat on Friday morning near Trim Tree Island.

“The OPP Aviation Services and the West Parry Sound OPP Marine Unit with the assistance of the Carling Fire Department, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and the Canadian Coast Guard commenced a search in the area where the pontoon boat was located,” reads a statement from police.

“Owen Sands is described as 5'9", 134lbs., thin build, Caucasian, short greying blonde hair, with blue eyes.”

Police and family said they are concerned for his well-being. Anyone with any information or who may know the whereabouts of Sands is asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
