Hot on the heels of record breaking temperatures in many communities across the north over the past few days, a heat warning has been extended.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the following areas:

  • Chapleau - Gogama
  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  • Greater Sudbury
  • Kirkland Lake - New Liskeard - Temagami
  • Manitoulin - Blind River - Killarney
  • North Bay - West Nipissing
  • Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East

"Hot and humid conditions will continue Sunday and into early this week," reads the weather alert.

"Mostly sunny skies this weekend will allow humidex values to reach into the upper thirties both this afternoon and again on Monday. These unseasonably warm temperatures and high humidex values will persist into early this week."

A cold front is expected to move across northeastern Ontario on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures for the remainder of the week.
