Police have charged two men in Alberta with fraud, after a North Bay woman was bilked out of $32,000 in an online dating scam.

In a media release issued on Wednesday, the North Bay Police Service said officers travelled to Edmonton on Tuesday to arrest Oladeji Ademola, 26, and Olumide Richard Adeyemo, 25.

The pair were both charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Back in March, police say a woman in North Bay started communicating with a man via an online dating website.

"The male befriended the women and asked for her assistance in money transfers as he was out of the country," reads a statement from police.

“The women was defrauded approximately $32,000.”

Police say accused men were held for a bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
