Defence calls no witnesses in triple murder trial in Sudbury
The defence in a triple murder trial in Sudbury isn’t calling any witnesses and the jury will soon be deliberating the suspect’s fate.
Liam Stinson is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in an arson April 11, 2021, on Bruce Avenue in Sudbury.
He’s also charged with arson causing bodily harm for the firebombing of the townhouse that killed his estranged girlfriend, Jamie-Lynn Rose, along with Jasmine Somers and Guy Henri. A fourth person, David Cheff, survived but was badly injured.
Stinson has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The Crown rested its case last week after calling more than a dozen witnesses.
The Crown is trying to prove that Stinson offered fentanyl to two men in exchange for throwing Molotov cocktails inside the residence to start the fire. Both men testified Stinson told them no one was home that night.
Wednesday morning, the judge dismissed the jury for another day or two. The Crown and defence will deliver their closing arguments in the coming days before the jury begin deliberations.
