Although she has her prize money in hand, Debra Latour is still in disbelief after winning a $250,000 top prize with the OLG game, Instant Ice.
“I need to get used to the idea that I won a quarter of a million dollars,” said Latour, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim her windfall.
The Elliot Lake woman scratched her way to a top prize when she played her ticket at home.
“I made myself a coffee while I played and I noticed that the symbols were matching up. I kept taking my glasses on and off to readjust my eyes because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” she explaned.
Before validating her ticket with her regular retailer, Latour shared the good news with her husband of 35 years. “He turned ghost white and gave me a kiss.”
Latour plans to take some time before spending her winnings.
“Right away, I will celebrate with the people I love – my husband, my daughter and my grandchildren. But then I will bank my winnings until I am no longer in shock – winning the lottery has my heart working overtime,” she exclaimed.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hillside Shop & Save on Hillside Drive in Elliot Lake.
