SUDBURY -- Charges laid in 2017 against a First Nation chief from Manitoulin Island have been withdrawn.

Brian Gray, spokesperson for Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General, confirmed all three charges laid against Patsy Corbiere, chief of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, formerly known as Sucker Creek First Nation, were dropped in 2018.

"On Jan. 30, 2018, the charges of criminal breach of trust s. 336 and intimidation of a justice participant s. 423.1(1)(b) against the accused were withdrawn. Furthermore, on Aug. 2, 2018, the charge of criminal harassment s. 264(2)(d) was withdrawn," said Gray in an email to CTV News.

No reason was given for the withdrawl.

A First Nation chief from Manitoulin Island is facing three charges after an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Last October, the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin asked the OPP to investigate criminal allegations against Patsy Corbiere.

Corbiere is chief of the Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, formerly known as Sucker Creek First Nation.

The charges laid include criminal breach of trust, criminal harassment and intimidation of a justice system participant. 

Chief Corbiere has been released from custody and she is scheduled to appear in court in Gore Bay on July 25.
